Independence Day 2007

Another raw video. I felt like talking about my thoughts on and of Independence Day, especially this year. I talk about my thoughts on the digusting commutation that President George W. Douche gave to Scooter Libby.

If you’re interested in doing a video for MikeyPod, and you really should so he can win, here are the instructions I had read off in my video:

  • Go to Podcast Ready, sign up, even if you’re not going to use the service. Use the promo code “mikeypod”
  • Make a video of you saying “I love podcast ready”, send it to MikeyPod
  • If you make a video and you make it funny and say what you love about Podcast Ready, MikeyPod will get more points.
  • If MikeyPod wins, one of the people who registered using the promo code “MikeyPod” will receive a new iPod.
  • Upload to YouTube and send the link to MikeyPod
  • If you upload the video to YouTube yourself it should be tagged with “mikeypod”, “100kplay” and “podcasting”
  • Email the link to mikeypod@gmail.com
  • July 31st is the deadline
  • MikeyPod’s YouTube, Website, Email

In the video I also talk about: my family shooting fireworks and spending way too much money, the health benefits of Earl Grey tea, photography contest I’m going to be entering with my sister, website projects, donations, Steve Harris & Feeder.

For those of you who don’t like longer videos, I apologizie. This video is 39 minutes long and it’s also got a nice fat file size. I apologize if either of those are inconveniences to anyone, I just really needed to talk, I suppose!

I enjoyed this video a great deal. You should do these types of videos more often. You were not rambling, you were sharing with us — and if more people did that, the world would be a better place.

I love fireworks — but they are illegal in NY

Do not give up your country — give up on the policies, the US has its problems, but it is better to stay and fight like hell to make it a better place

Christiaan - I am glad you enjoyed the video. I am glad someone did. I felt like I needed to talk and am glad someone sat through it and listened to me! It’s nice to be heard!

If you lived around here you’d start to wish they’d be illegal. They just shoot them off constantly, all the time. Plus they spend way too much money on them. The other thing about them, in my opinion, unless you’re going to do a fancy light show, don’t even bother because it’s not impressive, it’s just annoying. Around here they just light them one right after the other. But whatever.

I agree with you on staying in this country. It all goes back to believing that this country can be a good place to live if we’d just get to being a good place to live! I don’t remember if I mentioned it in the video or not but every single country has it’s problems. The grass may look greener on the other side but it isn’t always greener.

Great video, Andy. The butterfly photo is very nice. Like you, I’ve also had thoughts about leaving the U.S. But there is something to be said for staying here and “fighting” for a better country. I really hope that once the Bushies are out of office, things will start to improve. But, who knows how long it may take? In some cases, I think the states will have to be the ones to spearhead change, and then bring it to the rest of the country. There is serious momentum here in California to initiate statewide Universal Healthcare. If it happens, and it’s successful, maybe more states will do the same. It’s got to start somewhere.

And you’re welcome for the donation!
