Homemade Potato Soup
It’s getting that time of year when it’s cooling down outside and you want something warm to keep you warm! My sister gave me her recipe for potato soup. It’s a rich, thick soup. Very tasty. Something that you can eat on for days, too. Depending on how much you make! It’s a very simple recipe. The only hard part will be peeling the potatos. Sit back and let me show you how I made it.
If you’ll click on the image above, it will take you to the Flickr set containing the other photos of the soup that I took. I am going to try and do that from now on. I was going to give you an Apple TV sized video, however it was going to be 140MB. I thought the standard size would be plenty for this type of video.
If you’d like the recipe please send a self addressed, stamped envelope, with a cash donation of $5 to me, Andy Melton. Click here if you would like to view the full recipe.

Homemade Potato Soup Recipe
- Potatoes (as many as you like)
- 1 can broccoli cheese soup
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
- 1 can chicken broth
- 1 can cream of celery
- Pepper (to taste)
- Minced garlic (to taste)
- 1 onion, diced
Boil potatoes in water until potatoes are soft. If you get the potatoes too soft the soup will turn into more of a cream. Once potatoes are boiled to desired softness, drain water. Add potatoes back into pot and add the rest of the ingredients. Keep the soup on a low temperature and look it cook until the other soups have been heated thoroughly and the onions have became soft. Top with bacon bits, parsley, chives or any of your favorite toppings.

how long does it take to make it? looks good. need to make my slaves make it not with that many onions. it almost was french onion soup. lol.
i bet some bacon would be good on it, though that might mess up the texture.
what would you serve it with? grilled cheese?

Dace - The first comment and it’s you, Dace! How ’bout that! It took about an hour to do everything. Peeling the potatoes is the hardest part. The original recipe only calls for 3/4 of an onion. I didn’t think about it until afterwards but you might also want to put in just a bit of water to make the soup more soupy. The way I explained how to do it, it turns into the consistency of potato salad.
Bacon bits, chives, parsley go great with it. Put some bacon into it while it cooks or use bacon bits after it’s cooked, or even while it’s cooking. Would definitely make it even better.
Grilled cheese would go great with it. Any type of sandwich would, really.
