Chicken Fried Rice
A while back I got to wanting some chicken fried rice. Of course the only options were to drive an hour away to the nearest Chinese place, drive to the store and buy some frozen or go to the store and get the stuff to make my own. I didn’t exactly know how to make my own so I found some recipes online to go by. I’ve made it several times and it’s now a family favorite.
It’s a really easy dish to make, pretty in-expensive as well. That is if you have some key ingredients on hand such as rice, oil (preferably olive but vegetable works, too), frozen vegetables and soy sauce. If you’re vegan or vegetarian feel free to omit the offensive meat products and you’ll enjoy it, too.

yay! i love your cooking vids, I need to use your onion dicing technique!
have you ever tried using sesame oil? It will give it that really “chinesey” taste…also get you some fresh ginger root. Unless, of course, you don’t like those thngs.

MikeyPod - Thanks, I’m glad you enjoy my cooking videos. Hopefully, I can put some more out soon. I realized something so simple yesterday about dicing the onion. If I didn’t cut the root off the bottom of the onion, it wouldn’t fall apart so easily. I realized that while I was watching the video.
Haven’t ever tried sesame oil. It’s hard enough to get olive oil around here, extra virgin at that. I’ll have to look extra hard for it the next time and see how it tastes. I’ve never used fresh ginger root either but I see it in a lot of Asian and Thai recipes. Thanks for the tip!

While the rice looked delicious, I must stress again that you did not put a warning label on your video which parents that you are using sharp knives and a hot stove. What happens to small children or teenagers who watch this and decide to use a sharp knife?

Yummy video, Andy. At the end of your cooking videos I always end up hungry! I’m going to have to try to make this at home, but with low sodium Soy Sauce.

JustinFeed - Thanks, Justin. Glad you liked the cooking video. Hopefully, I can do more in the future and they’ll be as yummy as this one. Is there such a thing as low sodium soy sauce? Does it even taste good?!

this looks deeeelish. i think i would like to try it with brown rice, but i really dont like soy sauce at all, so i dont know what i would substitute (because i’m assuming you need some type of moisture).
