Keep It Simple, Stupid

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

I just now turned on the new theme for Andy Not Andrew. I’ve been putting a lot of time into this. I spent way too much time trying to come up with a sidebar for the site. The other day I took all the styling off of the sidebar and I decided that it looked really good just like that, so, I kept it off.

The header was designed from some drawings that I made. I scanned them, added color and added some effects. I think it came out pretty well. I am pretty pleased with it even if I do say so myself.

I hope it works! I hope you like it! Let me know!

Theme Progress & Personal Updates

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007

Before I get to the point of this entry, I would like to thank each and every one of you who have left me comments on my previous videos. It is truly, truly a welcome site to see people leaving comments when you put time and effort into these videos. I’m sure many of you can relate to that. Thank you so much!

I’d also like to give you an update on things happening with this site. The past month I have been working on a new theme for this website. The theme creation progress hasn’t came as quickly as I would have liked for it to. I’m going to put a teaser image in this post somewhere. It’s got a little snippet of a drawing that I did, scanned and applied color and other effects to. I’m going to try and stick with that because I like it quite a bit and other people I showed it to said that they thought it was nice as well. I just hope I can get it presentable soon!

Last night I deleted my Twitter account. I know that might sound really crazy to some of you still on there since you know I updated on there quite a bit when I first began. I honestly don’t have a reason for doing it. Last night I got to thinking about it and I just done it. I have to say that it feels really good. In a way, I feel as though a burden (and that’s not the right word, but the first one that came to my mind) has been lifted from me. If people want to talk with me, they can IM me. If I want to find out what my friends are posting I’ll subscribe to their blogs in Google Reader. By the way, their servers suck. Every time I would tell it to delete my account I would get one of those error messages with the kitten’s with A/V cables. Sorry, but that’s really stupid and it annoys me. I’m really tired of websites using kittens.

I’ve recorded quite a number of video clips in the past couple of weeks. My upcoming video will hopefully be put together soon. I need to get busy on that as well. It’s going to be a large project because it’s going to be a lot of clips about my daily routine. After this video, I want to do some more videos with me doing or talking about something in particular.

Well, that’s enough of me rambling. I just felt as though I should give you all an update on what I’ve been up to since I’ve not posted or replied to your comments, which again, thank you, I’m very grateful for!

Spring Cleaning

Tuesday, March 6th, 2007

A few minutes ago I imported the contents of Andy’s Audio & Video Journal. That was the plan for this site, import the old and continue. When I completed the import, the posts that I had made private on that site were publicly accessible. The password for the posts did not transfer over.

I was startled at first. At first I was going to go through all the posts and re-apply the passwords. Then I made a decision. I decided that since this is a new domain that I am going to start fresh. I am going to start over. I feel really strange about it but I feel like it’s the right thing to do.

I won’t be deleting the videos or the audio but they will probably no longer be publicly accessible. The goal for this new site is to no longer post any material privately. If it’s something that I cannot share publicly, I will not post it here.

I want to try and start speaking my mind instead of hiding behind password protected posts.

Update: I just showed this to Rebecca and she asked if I was killing off AndyMelton.net. I guess I should clarify things a little bit. That site is still there and will continue to be. It’s sole purpose will be where I talk about my professional skills as well as links to projects I am working on. This site on the other hand is my personal audio, video and text blog. The tech blog that I had on AndyMelton.net is now residing on a domain that I had purchased for a friend a while back who decided to no longer use it. I kept the domain and now it is my tech blog, Digital Disco Bash.
