Walking In The Snow

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

I started walking for exercise again last week. The first day I went walking I recorded a video. It was snowing, cold and very windy but I done it anyways. I recorded a video of the area I walked which was down to the pond below my house and up to the field above the house. Last week’s total walking time was 3.5 hours.

Creamed Honey

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

Got a package from a listener/viewer yesterday. Decided to make a video of me opening and tasting it! Didn’t do a whole lot of editing with this one. I can say though that the video was produced entirely with Linux (Cinelerra, Kino and VLC). Still got a lot to learn about Cinelerra so hopefully the next one will be better.

Alone in the woods

Monday, December 31st, 2007

I decided to go out and do some astrophotography tonight. It was really cold, the deer were making a lot of noises in the woods and I think there were some coyotes as well. I took the video in the field above my house. The one really good photo I took tonight can be viewed here.

Rot Your Teeth Pie

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

It’s Halloween and you know what that means. Time for costumes and what else, candy! If you think you don’t possibly have enough candy or the candy just isn’t doing it for you and want something extra special then check out this pie! This pie has got miniature Reese cups, Hershey’s chocolate and cheesecake all in one pie! It’s a frozen treat that I am sure will please you and your guests. When Christmas comes around, dye it green instead of orange!

Rot Your Teeth Pie

I do hope you enjoy this pie and hope you have a Happy and safe Halloween. The ingredients for this pie are simple but you can add more to it. I had originally intended to decorate this pie with candy corn but the store was sold out! This was a really good pie and it was gone very quickly. Hope you enjoy it!

Hidden Sky

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

On Friday my Grandma and Grandpa came over and visited with us for a little while. I had been wanting to go out to my Mamaw Ruby’s to take some photos. I went home with them and walked back home. As I walked back home I went by the pond in my Mamaw Ruby’s field. I sat on the porch swing and recorded a video journal entry. I then walked up to the church and took a few pictures then walked on home.

By the time I got home I was exhausted, much like I am now after being in the kitchen for four hours, but that’s another story. Anyways, I put this video together with some music that I have been enjoying all week, several of the photos I took and of course the video journal entry I made which I placed in the middle of this video.

I hope you enjoy the music selection I chose. I have been listening to Jamie Sieber all week and absolutely love her music. I purchased the “Hidden Sky” album from Magnatune and thankfully Magnatune allows you to use their music for your productions (make sure you read the license terms before you do) because they are not evil! The track I chose for this video is “Hidden Sky.” You can listen to the entire album on Magnatune for free! If you like it, support the artist and purchase her music.

For the production of this video I used InterVideo WinDVD Creator, which is what I have been using other than the previous video. My trial copy of Sony Vegas Pro 8 expired so I had to go back to what I was using. In the video I mention getting water and I wanted to put that clip up over me real quick. I thought that would have been neat. Oh well. Anyways, I enjoyed this one and hope you will as well. Stay tuned!

Fountain of Life

Friday, October 19th, 2007

If you’ll recall from “The Drive Home” we drove over a bridge with water underneath. A couple of weekends ago I went back down there and took some video and photos of the river. I’ve finally gotten a video put together from that Sunday drive down to the river. I added some background music and also some of the photos I took. This is my first video I created using Sony Vegas Pro 8. I have been using the trial and like it a lot. Too bad I won’t be able to continue using it since it costs an arm and a leg!

The background music for this video is “Fountain of Life (Lean On It Mix) - DJ Anser” which you can listen to at Magnatune. I am very appreciative of the fact that Magnatune has Creative Commons licenses on their music so I can add legal music to my videos. Thanks, Magnatune.

Homemade Potato Soup

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

It’s getting that time of year when it’s cooling down outside and you want something warm to keep you warm! My sister gave me her recipe for potato soup. It’s a rich, thick soup. Very tasty. Something that you can eat on for days, too. Depending on how much you make! It’s a very simple recipe. The only hard part will be peeling the potatos. Sit back and let me show you how I made it.

Homemade Potato Soup

If you’ll click on the image above, it will take you to the Flickr set containing the other photos of the soup that I took. I am going to try and do that from now on. I was going to give you an Apple TV sized video, however it was going to be 140MB. I thought the standard size would be plenty for this type of video.

If you’d like the recipe please send a self addressed, stamped envelope, with a cash donation of $5 to me, Andy Melton. Click here if you would like to view the full recipe.

The Drive Home

Saturday, September 8th, 2007

Part of this video is a couple of weeks old (the sunny part) and the dark, dreary, rainy part is from this past weekend. If you’re wondering why it seems like it was from two different days, that is why.

Caution

The title for this video isn’t completely accurate. It’s not a complete drive home. I just take you to the Presbyterian Church in Lancing. I hope the video quality is bearable. I wish I had a better camera, one with stabilization!

I hope you enjoy the song in this video, I really did. The best part about the song is that the artist licensed it song under a Creative Commons license. The artist is Jamison Young and the song is “Top of the Hill.”

Oh. Also. If you like the Creative Commons image that I added at the end of the video, feel free to take it from here. I’m posting it, too, because I had been looking for one so I finally just made one. I realize now I should have made it bigger since I released the video in a larger format. Oh well, I’ll do it the next time.

Home Made Salsa

Monday, August 20th, 2007

I know. It’s been a while since I have posted a video. I apologize for that. I have been very busy working on website projects. However, last week I did find the time to make a cooking video. I made home made salsa. I really love this salsa. It’s really easy to make and really delicious, in my opinion.

Home Made Salsa

I hope you’ll enjoy this video. I was in a bit of a hurry to record it. The batteries in my camera were dying.

The music in this video was provided by Como en el Barrio.

Broccoli Cornbread

Saturday, July 21st, 2007

In the last video I posted you saw some clips that I took at the Potter/Presswood family reunion. Someone brought some broccoli cornbread to the reunion and it was really, really good. I did not get the chance to get the recipe from anyone at the reunion but I found one online and thought I’d give it a shot.

Broccoli Cornbread

It turned out really well and I think it’s absolutely the best cornbread I’ve ever made. The cornbread is basic cornbread but with cottage cheese and broccoli in it. It’s really good and it’s really moist.

The recipe I used is available on AllRecipes.com or if you’ll click here I’ve got it on full entry for this post (the permalink) so in case the recipe gets removed from that site it should still be here.
