Morning Passes By

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

Recorded this video a few weeks ago. It’s a 90 minute time lapse video of the sunrise compressed into a 1 minute 46 second video (with titles and closing credits of course).

The photo is even older. Taken in July 2007. It’s of my dresser with the morning sun rays coming in. I would have posted the video with another window picture but seeing as the previous video had a window picture, I opted for this one.

Music in this video is "Cuckoo (passive-aggressive mix)" by hisboyelroy.

Window Like

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

I’m posting this entry to the past because like I said below I wasn’t sure I was going to post this on the blog or not. I posted it to Flickr which is where the text below came from. HOPEFULLY, SOON, I’ll do something more diverse than pointing the camera out my window and recording!

I recorded this on 4/22/08. I wasn’t sure if I was going to post it or not but decided to post it tonight. I used my Logitech ClickSmart 510 digital camera/webcam to record the video onto the hard drive. The colors aren’t the best because the camera sucks. I recorded for over an hour while I washed the dishes and cooked supper.

Unwilting

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

I have to say that I am extremely proud of this video. I started recording footage yesterday afternoon around 3 PM and finished recording footage at around 11 PM. I had to empty the memory cards and restart several times, that’s why you see the shifts in the video. There is 6 hours and 46 minutes (approximately) of footage in this one 30 second video. There is another 12 hours of editing. I actually recorded for over 8 hours but like I said, I had to empty the memory cards, format them and restart several times.

I really like the shifts in this. They almost make it look as though I was zooming in on the flower.

I had a hard time with the lighting in this one. I placed the flower on a plain piece of paper and put a standard incandescent light over it. I took the Gorillapod and positioned my camera over it with a macro lens attached. I also left the overhead (incandescent, also) light on. I may have had too much light. I used spot metering and center focus.

Curtains

Friday, April 25th, 2008

I purchased an AC adapter for my camera and it arrived yesterday. I have been wanting to create some really fun and interesting time lapse videos but I knew my batteries wouldn’t hold out long enough.

This video is of my bedroom curtains. One of my favorite things in my bedroom. I love how the light shines through them each morning and changes as the sun rises. I may try to record from the time I wake up until noon sometime to give a full effect.

The music in this video is suitable because this will truly be one of the things I miss when I move away from home.

The music is "Goodbye Sooner or Later" by oldDog.

Technical: I recorded video footage for 46 minutes (the maximum I can record on a 1GB memory stick). I imported the video into Sony Vegas Movie Studio (Platinum Edition). I speed the footage up as fast as I could, rendered it out in an uncompressed format. Pulled it back in and speed it up even more, rendered it back out. Pulled it back in, added saturation and luminance, music and exported. The reason I had to render it out twice was because Sony Vegas has a speed limit, I guess is a good way to put it!
